Residents and businesses in Riverwoods with burglar alarm systems are required to register their devices annually with the Riverwoods Police Department. For 2025, alarm registrations were due on January 25. However, a grace period is in effect until March 1 for those who have not yet submitted their registration forms.
To register a new burglar alarm or an existing one for 2025, residents must complete the necessary registration form and return it to the Riverwoods Police Department or Village Hall along with the appropriate fee as soon as possible.
If there are any uncertainties about whether an alarm has been registered this year or if there are other related questions, residents can contact Dana at 224-804-6721 or via email at dlitwin [at] riverwoods.gov.
According to Ordinance 5-1F-4 of the Riverwoods Village Code, both residential and commercial burglar/holdup alarm systems installed throughout the village must be registered annually. Failure to comply may result in penalties.
