Work is nearing completion on a temporary location for Buffalo Grove Fire Department's Fire Station 25 as the village prepares to rebuild the station at 505 W. Dundee Road. The village's former public works building will house firefighters during construction.
According to a news release, the fire station at 505 W. Dundee Road was built in 1975 and, after nearly 50 years of service, it is due for replacement. The village plans to construct a new, modernized, and expanded facility to provide emergency services.
The release states that demolition of the existing Fire Station 25 is planned for April. Work is nearing completion to retrofit the former Public Works building at 51 Raupp Boulevard to serve as the temporary quarters for Station 24's operations during construction. Fire operations will commence at Raupp Boulevard in the first week of March, enabling the village to expedite the construction project and reduce costs without affecting emergency response times.
The news release indicates that all services previously offered at the Dundee Road location will move to Raupp Boulevard, including blood pressure checks and the baby safe haven drop-off location.
The release also mentions that construction of the new Fire Station 25 will begin in June and is expected to be completed by September 2026. Buffalo Grove Fire Department Fire Chief Larry Kane provided a project update on BGTV, which can be accessed at https://youtu.be/kXnhshysNzA.
