Director’s Message – Spring/Summer 2025
Feb 28, 2025
Dear Residents,
The past week marked the first significant snowfall, bringing joy to many eager for winter activities. Despite limited snow, cold temperatures have pleased ice fishermen.
The recreation staff has been diligently planning spring and summer activities for families to enjoy. Residents are encouraged to review the guide for upcoming events.
The Park District is currently hiring for summer positions. Approximately thirty to forty employees aged 15 and above will be recruited for various roles including lifeguards, camp counselors, parks maintenance workers, concession staff, beach managers, class instructors, and league attendants. Applications are available on the website under the employment tab or at the Community Center.
The District will participate in the seventh annual Unplug Illinois Day on Saturday, July 12. Sponsored by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association, this event encourages residents statewide to disconnect from electronic devices and engage in local park activities. Cook Park will host a Chalk the Walk and Flying 4 Kids event as part of this initiative.
Wauconda Park District is one of thirteen members of the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA), which enriches lives of people with disabilities through meaningful recreation experiences. More information about NISRA can be found on page 58 or at the Community Center where their seasonal program guides are available.
The Wauconda Park District staff received recognition with the Chamber Cares award at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards and Recognition night held on January17 at Concord Banquets in Killdeer. This award honors not-for-profit entities providing exceptional support and leadership concerning health, financial, emotional well-being while enhancing general quality of life in our communities.
Residents are invited to visit parks or participate in seasonal district activities. For any questions or concerns regarding services provided by the district, Executive Director Tim Staton is available for discussion.
Sincerely,
Tim Staton CPRP
Executive Director
