Scott Allen Pierce, current Village Trustee for Antioch, is seeking re-election on April 1. Pierce has served for six terms as Antioch Trustee.

"I have a wide range of experience from the Navy, my civilian job as Field Service Engineer solving problems in a highly technical medical field, to six terms as a Village Trustee," Pierce told the Lake County Gazette. "My life has taught me how to appreciate people, provide solutions, and how to serve my community."

Antioch, located along the Chain O'Lakes waterway and bordering Wisconsin, had a population of 14,622 as of the 2020 Census.

Pierce acknowledges that Antioch faces increasing demand for services that have not been historically provided. He believes that addressing these needs will require a solid and skilled leadership team.

"There is a high demand for services that the village historically did not provide," he said. "This will take both a solid team to plan and execute the necessary steps to bring the Village to a point with which it can provide those services. Finances are critical to this transformation, and we have done a good job but need to be vigilant as we proceed."

For Pierce, teamwork and communication are essential components of effective governance. He emphasizes the importance of collaboration both within the Village Board and with the residents of Antioch.

"We need to make sure we have a solid and skilled leadership team both on the Village Board and on the leadership team of the Village," he said. "Working together and listening to the residents is the most important step we can take."

Pierce also believes that his role as trustee is rooted in representing the people of Antioch, striving to make the town a better place for all its residents.

"Communication and working together is key to this question," he said. "I believe my job is to represent the residents of Antioch, and in doing so, I can help make this town a better place."

Reflecting on his legacy, Pierce feels he has already made a lasting impact but is committed to continuing his work to ensure the village thrives in the future.

"I believe I have made a lasting impact on the Village and have a lot more impact to give," Pierce said. "I call it, Continuing the Journey. The legacy I want to leave is to be able to sit on the front porch and tell my grandchildren, 'I helped make Antioch better than it was, and at the end of my journey, it will be ready for its future.'"

Pierce is competing along with Brent C. Bluthardt, Petrina Burman, and Jose S. Martinez for three seats on the Village of Antioch Board of Trustees in the April 1 election.
