Secret Stories | Coal City Community Unit School District 1
Students in Ms. Togliatti’s class have been focusing on improving their reading skills.
By practicing reading and writing in various ways, students are becoming stronger readers. They are learning to blend and segment words and how to manipulate the letters in words to change the sound.
Learning “Secret Stories” as well as using songs and hand motions helps the students remember some reading tricks. They are expanding their vocabulary, learning many new words and their meanings daily.
A few of their favorite activities include using the blending activity on the smart board and using magnetic letter boards to build words.
Ms. Togliatti said her students are enjoying the process. She encourages her students to "have courage, keep trying and to practice, practice, practice" as they hone their reading skills.
