On Sunday, May 4, the Vernon Hills Park District is hosting a Free Compost Giveaway from 10 AM-3 PM in the Park Maintenance Facility Parking Lot at 1400 Indianwood Drive, Vernon Hills.
Go Green Vernon Hills & Lincolnshire is partnering with Vernon Hills Park District and SWALCO during International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW). This event represents the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the global compost community, celebrated annually during the first full week of May.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own buckets for free compost made in Illinois, with a limit of 20 gallons per household. Hosts will supply shovels for participants.
SWALCO, Vernon Hills Park District, and Go Green Vernon Hills & Lincolnshire will have displays and activities related to composting, including backyard composting and curbside composting.
