A Park Forest teenager is facing charges following the discovery of a ghost gun during a traffic stop on April 20. The incident occurred when a vehicle with a suspended registration was stopped near Green Bay Road and Wall Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m.

According to a news release, the deputy conducting the stop detected the smell of fresh cannabis emanating from inside the vehicle. During an interaction with the driver, Dewan Frazier, 19, residing in the 0-100 block of Woodland Court, Park Forest, it was revealed that unsealed cannabis was present in the car. Further investigation led to the discovery that a juvenile passenger, a 17-year-old male from Park City, possessed a loaded, unserialized pistol. Additionally, another pistol equipped with a drum-style magazine was located in the trunk.

Frazier and the juvenile were subsequently arrested and transported to the Lake County Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division. After evaluating the details of the case, charges against Frazier for unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis were approved by the Lake County State's Attorney's office. Meanwhile, sheriff's detectives have petitioned for charges against the juvenile in juvenile court for aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of cannabis.
