District 127 students earn honors at SkillsUSA state competition

Dr. Abe Singh Associate Superintendent/CSBO | Grayslake Community High School District 127

Thirteen students from District 127 (GNHS and GCHS) represented their schools at the SkillsUSA Illinois State Competition in Peoria on April 26–27, 2025. These students competed against peers from across the state, showcasing career and technical skills developed through the Tech Campus.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that empowers students to become proficient workers, leaders, and responsible citizens. Many participants completed qualifying exams to earn a spot in the state-level competition.

District 127 announced the results of its students:

- Alexys DeYoung - GNHS– 2nd Place Medal - CNA - Medical Assisting

- Adam Cicero - GCHS - 2nd Place Medal - CSM - Carpentry

- Destiny Townsend - GNHS– 3rd Place Medal - EMS - Health Knowledge Bowl

- Emily Vignocchi - GNHS– 3rd Place Medal - CNA - Job Skills

- Trent Schulz - GCHS - 3rd Place Medal - INT - Industrial Motor Controls

- Renee Morris - GNHS – 4th Place Certificate - CNA - Medical Assisting

- Joshua Fritz - GCHS - 4th Place Certificate - Firefighting

- Finley Bond - GNHS– 5th Place Certificate - Teacher - Preschool

- Maryll Perez - GCHS - 5th Place Certificate - CNA - Showcase

- Nicholas Timmons Jr. - GCHS - 5th Place Certificate - INT - Industrial Motor Controls

Each student demonstrated confidence, professionalism, and technical excellence. These results reflect their hard work and the strength of D127’s commitment to career and technical education.

“We’re incredibly proud of all our students who competed,” said Kevin Doyle, GNHS Tech Campus Supervisor and Dean of Students. “They absolutely crushed it. ”

Grayslake D127 celebrates these students for their achievements and thanks the Tech Campus for providing transformative learning experiences.
