At its final meeting, the Referendum Task Force examined updated financial data and considered the increasing costs of inaction regarding District 109's aging facilities. Members reviewed renovation-only and new construction options. Presentations covered tax impacts, long-term risks of ongoing emergency repairs, and the pros and cons of two major plans under consideration.

The group also analyzed voter demographics, timing, a public engagement plan, and a proposed community survey to gauge support for a potential 2026 bond referendum. After comprehensive presentations across three meetings, Task Force members engaged in discussions about strategies to address the District's facility needs.

There was consensus that delaying action on facility needs is not viable. The Task Force recommended sharing one clear proposal with the public this fall that balances educational benefit, cost impact, and community support likelihood. The Superintendent will present this proposal at the June 17 Board of Education meeting, with further details to be shared on July 24.
