Last week, the Lindenhurst Police responded to a driveway sealcoating scam report. After completing the job, the suspects increased the price significantly and left quickly when the homeowner became suspicious.

As summer brings more door-to-door activities such as home repairs, sales, or service inquiries, it is important to remain cautious. The Lindenhurst Police offer several tips for protection: only open your door to known individuals or those with scheduled appointments; pay attention to the solicitor’s vehicle, clothing, and identifying details; keep your front door locked while speaking with someone outside; ask for identification—legitimate workers will not object; verify directly with the company or agency before allowing anyone inside. If someone refuses to leave or makes you feel uncomfortable, call 911.

The police advise residents to stay safe and informed and encourage spreading this information among friends and neighbors. For further details, visit www.lindenhurstil.org or contact the Lindenhurst Police Department at (847) 356-5400. "No Solicitors Invited" signs are available for download from the Village website at www.lindenhurstil.org/documents.
