In June, educators from the Coal City Community Unit School District #1 collectively dedicated over 1,090 hours to enhance student learning experiences. During the summer work period, teachers focused on revising and developing common assessments and ensuring curriculum alignment with Illinois Learning Standards.
Jennifer Kenney, director of curriculum and instruction for the district, emphasized the importance of this work in preparing schools for the upcoming year and supporting high-quality instruction across all grade levels.
The revised curriculum will be presented to the Board of Education in August, alongside new course curricula awaiting approval.
“Thank you to the Board of Education for allowing us to complete this very important work,” Kenney stated.
