Beginning with the 2025-26 school year, students in grades K-12 at Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 will have free admission to home athletic events held on district campuses. This decision was made by the Board of Education during their meeting on July 21, 2025.
To gain entry, students in grades 7-12 must present a valid school ID, while those in grades K-6 need to show their Skyward access. It is important to note that all students in grades K-8 must be accompanied by an adult.
The initiative is part of the Kahok Athletic Department's efforts to build a strong and supportive school culture. The aim is to boost student attendance at athletic events, potentially increasing interest and participation in sports programs as students advance through school.
“By removing the financial barrier to attendance, we believe this move will significantly enrich the school experience for our students while reinforcing a unified school community,” said Athletic Director Clay Smith. “We look forward to the positive impact this will have on student involvement and Kahok spirit.”
The district hopes that providing free admission will increase student attendance and enthusiasm at athletic events, boost morale among student athletes, enhance pride and unity among students across all grade levels, and encourage school spirit.
It should be noted that this policy does not apply to IHSA-sponsored events or the Collinsville Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament where admission fees will still apply.
