Collinsville, Illinois – The Collinsville Area Community Foundation (CACF) has received a donation in memory of George “Bogie” Redmon, a notable athlete and businessman from Collinsville. This contribution was made by his wife, Judie Redmon, to honor his legacy and support several community initiatives.
The funds will be allocated to the Kahoks Teaching Kahoks future teachers scholarship, the Diamonds for Kahoks project aimed at expanding the athletic complex at Collinsville High School, and the Collinsville Area Vocational Center (CAVC) endowment fund.
Dr. Mark B. Skertich, Superintendent of Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 (CUSD 10), expressed gratitude for Mrs. Redmon’s generosity: “Mrs. Redmon’s generous donation to the foundation in support of future teachers and athletics is deeply appreciated. From the very beginning of our conversations, her commitment to honoring Bogie and supporting our students has been clear.”
Bogie Redmon was known for his role on the 1961 undefeated state champion high school basketball team at Collinsville High School. He was inducted into multiple halls of fame for his contributions to basketball but chose a career in business with his family’s insurance agency after being drafted by the NBA.
Mrs. Redmon stated that supporting education is their way of giving back to a community that meant so much to them: “Supporting education is a way to give back to the community that has meant so much to us over the years.”
Her donation supports three CACF programs: Kahoks Teaching Kahoks for aspiring educators from Collinsville High School; CAVC endowment fund aiding vocational education across multiple high schools; and Diamonds for Kahoks project enhancing athletic facilities.
The CAVC Director Joe McGinnis highlighted how these funds are essential: "The CAVC Endowment plays a vital role in supporting the growth and success of our programs."
CHS Athletic Director Clay Smith acknowledged Mrs. Redmon's contribution towards athletics: “We thank Mrs. Redmon for helping us turn vision into reality... Their contribution will have a lasting impact.”
CACF remains open for further philanthropic support through donations which are tax-deductible under Section 501(c)(3).
