City of North Chicago Committee of the Whole met July 7

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Mayor Rockingham, Jr. called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL:

Ayes: Jackson, Evans, Allen, Wray, Brooks

Nays: None

Absent: Coleman, Murphy

I. DISCUSSION FOR LIQUOR LICENSE B-W(2) AND G-P FOR 1015 FOODMART INC. 1015 10TH ST. FOR NEW OFFICERS; SECRETARY ALBIN MATTHEW 33% OWNERSHIP AND TREASURER TOSMY SIMON 33% OWNERSHIP:

Chief of Staff Greg Jackson explained there was a change in ownership in one of the (3) businesses on the form of a liquor license. In the State of Illinois, they aren’t transferable and have to follow the same process for a liquor license. Each of the three requests had a change of ownership. All three were approved for the police background checks.

The Mayor stated the majority of the businesses were LLC companies.

Alderman Evans asked if the owners were present. The Chief of Staff replied they weren’t.

II. DISCUSSION FOR LIQUOR LICENSE B-W(2) AND G-P FOR 1234 FOODMART INCE. 134 SHERIDAN RD. FOR NEW OFFICERS; SECRETARY ALBIN MATTHEW 33% OWNERSHIP AND TRESURER TOSMY SIMON 33% OWNERSHIP:

III. DISCUSSION FOR LIQUOR LICENSE H AND G-P FOR RAHYL ENTERPRISES LIMITED DBA TEE PEE 1801 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DR. FOR NEW OFFICER; PRESIDENT HARSHIDA PATEL 100% OWNERSHIP:

Alderman Evans questioned the name of the owner who was present and freely was provided.

The Manager Joe Patel (Tee Pee) was also present. Mr. Patel explained he had repaired the camera system for additional security measures. He was inspired to bring the community back due to the previous history of Tee Pee business. The Owner encouraged anyone to visit to the new business.

The Mayor added he had asked for stronger security and additional lighting.

Alderman Brooks questioned clarification of the other percentage with Item I and II from the previous owner of 1/3rd and 2/3rd to the other ownership. The Chief of Staff acknowledged it was.

ITEMS I THRU III will be placed on the next Council Agenda, July 21, 2025.

Alderman Allen moved, seconded by Alderman Brooks that Committee of the Whole stand adjourned.

MOTION CARRIED BY VOICE VOTE

Alderman Coleman and Murphy were absent.

The meeting adjourned at 6:59 p.m.
