United Township High School announces fall events schedule including picture days and club meetings

United Township High School has released its latest announcements for students and staff, outlining upcoming events, activities, and reminders.

The school shared the lunch menu for the day, which includes walking tacos, bean and cheese burritos, taco fiesta beans, baby whole carrots with dip, mixed green salad, applesauce, and apricots.

Band director Mr. W requested that community members avoid parking in the northwest corner of the school during the first quarter. "Please refrain from parking in the northwest corner of the school during 1st quarter - the Marching Panthers appreciate your help, and we can't wait to showcase our Panther Pride at our home football games and marching competitions! Thanks for your help!"

Students interested in attending a musical event at Adler Theatre in Davenport on November 8 can obtain free tickets by contacting Mr. Davis, College & Career Advisor. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Volunteer opportunities are available with the Quad Cities Rowing Club for their 'Sprint the Miss Regatta' on September 19 or 20. Students can see Mr. Davis for details about specific duties.

School picture days will take place this week. Photographic Arts will be present to photograph UTEC and remote students as well as freshmen on Wednesday, August 13; sophomores and juniors on Thursday; and seniors on Friday. Pictures are scheduled during English classes. Seniors without a first semester English class may visit the auditorium from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday for their photos. The announcement reminds students that hats, hoods, and sunglasses are not allowed in pictures.

Students seeking community service hours can volunteer with Hampton Youth Committee’s Color Run on Saturday, August 16 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m., assisting participants by spraying colored powder as they pass by.

The Panther Players drama club is holding an informational meeting for its fall play on Wednesday, August 13 at 3:15 p.m. in the auditorium. This year’s production features two one-act plays: "A Jury of Her Peers" and "Anybody for Tea". According to organizers: "Using drama and comedy, these two 40-minute plays explore gender stereotypes and how individuals interact with society and government forces." Students interested in acting or technical roles are encouraged to attend or contact Mr. Greer or Mrs. Julia Jackson for more information.

For those interested in healthcare careers, H.O.P.E Club (Health Occupations Preparation for Excellence) will meet Wednesday, August 13 from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. in room 189V under advisor Ms. CJ Burhans.

United Township High School District 30 serves Rock Island and Henry counties (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). According to recent state data (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), there are currently 96 teachers employed within District 30 earning an average salary of $65,666 before pension contributions; nearly half of these teachers are women while just over half are men; no teacher had more than ten absences last year.

Demographically (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), United Township High School District 30 consists of approximately 51 percent White students, with Black students making up about sixteen percent; Hispanic students account for twenty-five percent; Asian students represent almost three percent of enrollment.
