The Village of Buffalo Grove has started an Events and Programming Study and Plan in partnership with Keen Independent Research. The study aims to evaluate current events and programs while exploring new opportunities for the community.

As part of the process, the Village will hold a community meeting on Monday, September 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Arts Center, Room 20, located at 225 McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove. Attendees can arrive and leave at any time during the two-hour event. A brief presentation will be given during peak attendance hours, and interactive activity stations will be available throughout the meeting for participants to share feedback. Pizza will be offered while supplies last.

“There’s a lot of excitement brewing in Buffalo Grove. As we look at new and emerging venue spaces combined an appetite for more programs and events, we find ourselves in a juxtaposition. One where we don’t want to make big plans or promises, but then not have the funding or capacity to deliver. So, that’s where this study and plan comes in,” said the Village’s Director of Communications and Engagement Molly Gillespie, who is leading the project.

Residents who cannot attend in person can participate by completing an online questionnaire at qrco.de/BuffaloGrove. Those who fill out the survey may enter a drawing for one of three $50 gift cards. The survey closes on October 19.

“We are planning for the future, and we want to hear for any and everyone in Buffalo Grove, no matter if you’re a new or 30+ year resident, a local student, business owner, or regular visitor,” said Gillespie. “Share your ideas and let’s make BG the best it can be!”

The goals of this study include assessing existing programming within the context of other agencies’ offerings such as those from park districts or library districts; identifying ways to enhance strategic initiatives; aligning efforts with community preferences; outlining resources needed; considering potential partnerships; developing sustainable funding strategies; and clarifying roles within the Village.

The project is expected to last about eight months with four main phases: background analysis, engagement with stakeholders and residents, strategic analysis and planning for future actions. It will conclude with a final report and presentation.
