Lake Forest, IL - An Amtrak train collided with a front-end loader on September 21, 2025, at approximately 12:05 pm. The incident occurred near the intersection of Everett and Waukegan Roads. Emergency services from the Lake Forest Police Department and Fire Department responded to the scene.

The front-end loader was engaged in track maintenance when it was hit by a southbound Amtrak train en route to Chicago. The operator of the construction vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As a result of the collision, all train traffic on the Milwaukee District North line has been halted. However, vehicle traffic in the vicinity remains unaffected. Authorities have urged people to avoid the area while investigators from Lake Forest, Amtrak, Metra, and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Southern (CPKC) Railroad conduct their investigation and work on clearing the accident site.
