Residents in Hawthorn Woods are being reminded of safety measures for Halloween trick-or-treating. The Hawthorn Woods Police Department has issued a set of recommendations to help ensure children’s safety during the holiday.
The department advises parents and guardians to check all treats before allowing children to eat them. They also recommend that costumes be made or purchased in light and bright colors so that children are visible to drivers. Carrying flashlights after dark is encouraged.
According to the police, young children should always be accompanied by an adult or a responsible older child while trick-or-treating. Children are advised to visit only homes they know or those with exterior lights on. Additionally, going out in groups is recommended so that no child is left alone.
These guidelines aim to promote a safe environment for families participating in Halloween activities.
