Lake County to hold Wednesday meetings on road work, bike trail plans
The Lake County Division of Transportation will hold public hearings on Wednesday to get input on two upcoming development projects. The first meeting, 5-7 p.m. at the Village of Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center, will consider proposed improvements to the intersection of Gilmer and Midlothian Roads in Hawthorn Woods and unincorporated Lake County.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a fatal hit-and-run that occurred Oct. 12 in unincorporated Prairie View.

Lake County's first multi-lane roundabout opens in Lake Barrington
The Lake County Division of Transportation opened a new roundabout late last week at River and Roberts Roads in Lake Barrington, Lake County's fifth roundabout. It's also the county's first multi-lane roundabout. Lake County transportation officials have been studying traffic patterns at Roberts and River Roads since 2008, when the intersection began seeing up to 20,000 vehicles daily, with heavy congestion.
