The main entrance to the Pine Dunes Forest Preserve opened to the public Wednesday.
The Pine Dunes Forest Preserve features scenic trails and a man-made pond for fishing. The preserve opened in 2004 with 158 acres and has since grown to 868 acres. It's part of a network of preserves that also includes Lakewood Forest Preserve, Rollins Savanna, Grant Woods and Van Patten Woods.
The entrance is located on Hunt Club Road, approximately 1/3 of a mile north of Edwards Road.
