The Village of Grayslake board of trustees held its regular meeting Nov. 3. at Grayslake Village Hall.
After having trouble finding enough vendors to conduct a proper bidding process for skate park repairs, the board decided to waive the bidding process and grant a $75,000 contract directly to Mielke Construction.
The village also extended its cable TV contract with Comcast, called on village officials to prepare this year's tax levy and passed a resolution urging the state to release the funds it's been holding from local governments.
The resolution is one of many passed by local communities as the state continues withholding gas, tax, and other payments amid its budget impasse. The state typically collects these funds and disburses them to towns and villages to help pay for road maintenance and other basic infrastructure projects.
Many smaller communities, in particular, depend on the revenues, which can sometimes be in the millions.
