Lake Forest's Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) elected CEO Mark Kowlzan as its new chairman of the board Wednesday.
Outgoing chair Paul Stecko leaves his position after 16 years but will remain with the company as an adviser and regular board member. Stecko described Kowlzan as a proven leader who will fill the role well.
“The company and the board will be well served under Mark’s leadership," Stecko said. "During the past five years, Mark has been instrumental in leading the company’s success in growing our business and creating substantial shareholder value.”
Kowlzan was equally gracious in his appraisal of his predecessor and colleague.
“We are very pleased that Paul will continue to serve PCA as both a director and senior adviser and remain involved in matters of strategic importance," he said.
Kowlzan has been PCA's CEO since 2010. He will officially take on his additional duties as board chair on Dec. 31.
