Deerfield Road Reconstruction Project spurs Village Hall open house Jan. 20

Deerfield rd construction

Deerfield residents and businesses are invited to choose one of two open houses on Jan. 20 to better understand how Deerfield Road reconstruction will impact day-to-day operations along the busy stretch running through Highland Park.

The public meetings are slated as follows: business owners will gather at 3 p.m., while individual village residents (families and non-commercial households) are asked to attend at 7 p.m. Both sessions will take place at Deerfield Village Hall, 850 Waukegan Road.

During both sessions, staff from the Village Department of Public Works and Engineering will introduce the team handling the project, which has been awarded to A-Lamp Concrete Contractors of Schaumburg, Ill., beginning now and expected to last throughout most of 2016.

This is not the community’s only chance to ask questions, though, as the village has also initiated a special website for updates at www.DeerfieldRoad.com that is already up and running. Citizens can sign up for e-mail newsletters or simply peruse the project status at will.

The extent of the task spans the area between the Metra Underpass and Windsor Drive in the city of Highland Park. Work will encompass repair and replacement of water mains, sanitary and storm sewers, bridges and sidewalks as well as traffic signals.

Additionally, an over-height vehicle detection system will be installed near the Deerfield Metra underpass, and plans are in place for pavement upgrades between Windsor Drive and US Route 41 in the city of Highland Park.
