Construction codes comprised the bulk of conversation at the city of Highwood Committee of the Whole’s 5:00 p.m. Dec. 14, 2015, meeting at City Hall in Highland Park.
Mayor Nancy Rotering called the meeting to order with roll call at 5:00 p.m.
First on the agenda, the committee approved meeting minutes from Nov. 30, 2015, then moved to a closed session at 5:02 p.m. and reconvened to open session at 7:05 p.m.
In scheduled business, Building Division Manager John Tilton discussed a proposed building code amendment for public and private garages, involving construction procedures and materials. The committee considered the relationship between building code and fire apparatus accessibility.
Some concern arose regarding Highwood’s fire code varying from Highland Park’s; Fire Chief Dan Pease clarified any discrepancies. Ultimately, it was decided that a draft code amendment would be prepared for consideration at a future meeting.
With no other matters pending, the meeting was adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
