Two local businesses submitted requests for the Highwood Appearance Review Committee to review at its Tuesday meeting at Highwood City Hall.
Vape312, which bills itself as “Chicago’s premier vape experience,” is a business incorporated at 502 Sheridan Road. Its owner requested the board’s attention for the matter of installing awning and wall signage. The business submitted photos and diagrams to support its request.
Ballaro, an Italian restaurant at 212 Green Bay Road with both indoor and outdoor facilities, submitted an inquiry for the committee to authorize a furniture purchase for its outdoor patio.
“While we have not chosen the precise tables and chairs, they will be in keeping with the rest of our restaurant...simple and understated,” Chef Mark Newman and Josh Kaplan said. “We are not planning umbrellas.”
Additionally, the establishment seeks permission to hang decorative light bulbs. Ballaro, the second Italian eatery within the last two months to submit a request to the Appearance Review Commission, also provided photographs and furniture specs for the committee to review.
Detailed meeting minutes were approved from both Jan. 26 and Feb. 9, and future workshops, meetings and public hearings were placed on the calendar, with old and new business items allotted time for discussion, prior to adjournment.
