Lifelong Northbrook resident Benjamin Salzberg is running for the District 29 state Senate seat with the goals of salvaging Illinois’ financial troubles, aiming for solvency, maintaining quality education and a strong workforce and retaining businesses.
With his platform based on fiscal stability, Salzberg intends to improve affairs and maximize taxpayer dollars. Equally importantly, Salzberg stressed the need for Illinois to create a business-friendly atmosphere to retain entrepreneurs tempted to relocate elsewhere.
With a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign and two master's degrees — one in secondary education from National-Louis University plus an M.B.A. from the Illinois Institute of Technology, both in Chicago -- Salzberg believes he is equipped to handle important matters facing Illinois.
A state-certified teacher licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education, Salzberg maintains an active public service life as a trustee of Oakton Community College, and membership in Masons and Shriners International.
“We all face challenges in our lives which we must overcome in the most judicious manner,” Salzberg said, citing decades of financial difficulty for Illinois, inexplicably unchanged by higher taxes and a state lottery. Questioning why the state now faces a $9 billion deficit, Salzberg underscored the vital need for action.
Therefore, Salzberg is championing “CHANGE” to “Create” jobs, “Help” people, maintain “Accountability," create “New” policies, “Generate” fiscal responsibility and “Encourage” businesses to stay in Illinois.
“We must demand change immediately and this is why I am asking for your support in my campaign for the state senate,” he stated, promising to leverage his executive leadership experience to implement “critical new skills” in the legislature.
