From a blue-collar background to a Georgetown law degree, Republican candidate for the House District 62 seat Rod Drobinski  already has traveled far — and remains determined to uphold issues viewed as critical by Illinois voters.

Born to immigrants in Waukegan, Drobinski attended high school in Mundelein and graduated from the University of Notre Dame before obtaining his law degree and beginning his career.

“As the eldest son of immigrants, I learned that providing a better life for future generations must always be one of our greatest priorities,” the candidate said. “My parents instilled this value with every sacrifice they made … (yet) when I look at the decisions by our state government, I don’t see a focus on my children or my neighbors’ children. The state of Illinois needs to re-focus its priorities.”

Calling for the redistricting measure to be on the ballot and for term limits, Drobinski focuses his candidacy on pinpointing the highest priorities: public pension, law enforcement, funding and taxes. Cutting waste, restoring “fiscal sanity,” slashing “exploding" entitlement programs, and reaching out to retain businesses in-state are all important to Drobinksi.

“Our public-pension system is verging on an economic catastrophe,” Drobinski said. “We have weathered a 67 percent income tax increase that does not pay our bills because of increased spending. Responsible fiscal priorities must be implemented in Springfield to protect what we can offer our future generations.”

As a career prosecutor, the Wauconda resident upheld the need to keep Lake County safe for residents, noting that systems are “erratic and flawed.”

“I will bring the sensibilities of a justice-focused prosecutor to the House chambers,” Drobinski said. “I look forward to engaging with my neighbors in the 62nd Legislative District and discussing how together we can build a better future for Illinois.”

Drobinski maintains active community involvement, serving on the Wauconda Police Commission and the Fremont Library Board. Having served as a Lake County assistant state’s attorney for over a decade, Drobinski works in the office’s gang and narcotics division.
