Grayslake trustees approve street closures

The village of Grayslake Board of Trustees met Sept. 20. to approve street closures.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the board:

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF GRAYSLAKE HELD SEPTEMBER 20, 2016

The regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Grayslake was called to order at 7:00 P.M. in the Board Room of the Grayslake Village Hall, Mayor Rhett Taylor presiding.

Roll Call: Trustees Bassett, Vogel, Jarvis, Waldenstrom, Davies, Shores - present. Village Clerk Lee – present.

Also present were various Village staff members.

PUBLIC COMMENT – AGENDA ITEMS: A citizen expressed his concerns for snow on sidewalks in the Cornerstone proposal.

1. APPROVAL: MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 6, 2016

Trustee Jarvis made a motion, seconded by Trustee Davies, to approve the Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of September 6, 2016. On voice vote – all “aye”. MOTION CARRIED.

2. APPROVAL: TREASURER’S REPORT/PAYMENT OF BILLS: SEPTEMBER 20, 2016

Trustee Bassett made a motion, seconded by Trustee Shores, to approve the Treasurer’s Report for September 20, 2016, and authorize payment of the bills as listed in the report. Roll call: Trustees Bassett, Vogel, Jarvis, Waldenstrom, Davies, Shores – all “aye”. MOTION CARRIED.

3. PRESENTATIONS: BOYS AND GIRLS STATE

Grayslake Central High School and Grayslake North High School students gave presentations on their experiences at Boys and Girls State.

4. AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE: CORNERSTONE PHASE I

IMPLEMENTATION AGREEMENT

On the recommendation of the Committee of the Whole, Trustee Bassett made a motion, seconded by Trustee Vogel, to authorize the execution of an agreement with Lake County Land Holdings, LLC regarding implementation steps for the commencement of development of Phase I of the Cornerstone mixed use project on Peterson Road. Roll call: Trustees Bassett, Vogel, Jarvis, Waldenstrom, Davies, Shores – all “aye”. MOTION CARRIED.

5. STREET CLOSURE REQUEST: EXCHANGE CLUB OF GRAYSLAKE

Trustee Davies made a motion, seconded by Trustee Waldenstrom, to approve the requested closure of Hawley Street on October 29, 2016 for the Exchange Club of Grayslake event: Trustees Bassett, Vogel, Jarvis, Waldenstrom, Davies, Shores – all “aye”. MOTION CARRIED.

6. ACCEPTANCE OF ALTERNATE: GELATIN FACTORY CONTRACT

Trustee Waldenstrom made a motion, seconded by Trustee Bassett, to accept the alternate to the previously approved demolition contract for the Gelatin Factory buildings to provide for clean fill for the resulting excavations. Roll call: Trustees Bassett, Vogel, Jarvis, Waldenstrom, Davies, Shores – all “aye”. MOTION CARRIED.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Maria Forver (Charlotte Renehan) invited all to attend the annual Grayslake Historical Society annual Living History Tour of the Grayslake Cemetery on Sunday, October 2nd at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

TRUSTEE REPORTS: The Trustees reminded all to attend the annual Cemetery Walk on Sunday, October 2nd, expressed their gratitude for the Esper A. Petersen Foundation park on Lake Street dedication event, congratulated the students who participated in Boys and Girls State, congratulated Foundation 46 for their event and noted the homecoming win for Grayslake Central High School. The Trustees reminded all about placement of political signs during the election season.

MAYOR’S REPORT: Mayor Taylor thanked and congratulated the Boys and Girls State students for their presentations and noted placement of the political signs during the election season.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Trustee Jarvis made a motion, seconded by Trustee Davies, to adjourn the meeting. On voice vote – all “aye”. MOTION CARRIED.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m..
