Inclement weather knocked back the A-May-Zing Mundelein Annual Day of Caring this year, but it's come bouncing back and is now scheduled for Sept. 23, according to the village.
The village and the Mundelein Police Department have co-sponsored the volunteer event for 22 years, allowing area residents and businesses to promote their community through various improvement projects for residents in need of assistance. Last year, the event attracted nearly 200 volunteers who completed 106 projects, including yard work, window washing and home safety inspections. The event is also made possible each year thanks to the contributions of local businesses, which provide supplies and refreshments for volunteers.
Those interested in taking part should meet at the Mundelein Police station at 8 a.m. The day will kick off with an hour for registration and a continental breakfast before volunteers are deployed. The projects will likely run until the late morning or early afternoon.
Prospective volunteers or business sponsors should contact Jenni House at 847-968-3770 or visit www.mundelein.org/police for more information.
