Lake Forest podcast GOP guest: ‘Out of 102 counties in Illinois, 92 of them are ruby red’

Aaron Del Mar, entrepreneur, GOP operator, and guest on the Lake Forest Podcast, said winning statewide in Illinois comes down to securing about “27% of Cook County,” since past winners like Bruce Rauner did so, and 92 of the state’s 102 counties are “ruby red.”

“In Chicago, you only have to win 27% of Cook County," said Del Mar on the Lake Forest podcast. “All the rest of the counties don't matter. I know people from New Page and people from all across Saginaw County say that that's not true. It is true. In Lake County, too. Because every person who has ever won statewide has garnered over 27% of Cook County, because that's where the population is. Bruce Rauner did it. Judy Barker, Pink Peter did it. Dan Rutherford did it. That's really the number.”

“You don't even have to win Chicago; you just have to get 27% of the vote, and the rest of the 102 counties in Illinois will lift you," said Del Mar. “Out of 102 counties in Illinois, 92 of them are ruby red, Republican, ruby red.”
