U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL) is backing President Donald Trump’s position on the Iran nuclear arms deal, according to a press release.
“Remaining part of the nuclear accord in its current form is not in the U.S. national security interest,” Roskam said, according to the release. “I look forward to working with the Trump Administration in ensuring that the Islamic Republic is verifiably and permanently prevented from obtaining nuclear weapons capability.”
Trump recently announced that the United States would not certify the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which was signed in Vienna, Austria, in 2015. Roskam said in the press release that he is planning on introducing legislation that will support Trump’s plan of preventing Iran from gaining a nuclear arsenal.

“I support the President’s decision to refuse to certify the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) under the 2015 Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act and to advance the fight against Iran’s destabilizing behavior in the Middle East,” Roskam said in the release.
