Analysis: Highland Park pays $7.47 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Highland Park Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 87.7 percent of the $3,892,567 the Highland Park Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $7.47 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Lake County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Highland Park contributed $3,412,844 to the fund, which saw a $991,694 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $456,800, or 11.7 percent, in 2016. Another $22,923 came from other unspecified sources.
