Barrett Davie's motivation for being in Springfield is clear and simple.
“I’m not a career politician," Davie, a Lake Forest Republican running against Sen. Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield) in Senate District 29 in November’s general election, said in a video posted to his Facebook page. "So for me, this is a continuation of getting involved in my community, wanting to plant deep roots here in Illinois, wanting to stay here, wanting people to come here. To me, that only happens if people stand up and make things happen.”
Davie said his plan for his time in Springfield is clear and his goals are straightforward.
“I’m not a career politician; so I don’t have a vested interest in going down to Springfield and being in Springfield and staying in Springfield,” he added in the video. “I have a vested interest in actually putting a plan together, bringing people together from both sides of the aisle and passing legislation that puts us on the right track and getting back to my family.”
The son of a Polish mother who came to the U.S through Ellis Island and a father who was a Chicago police officer for 35 years, Davie ran unopposed in the GOP primary.
