Patricia Kammerer, former Lake County GOP committeeman and captain, has passed away.
“Pat was contemporaneously a leader of, and the consummate 'footsoldier' for, the Republican Party throughout her many years of service to her Party and Community!,” Mark Shaw, Lake County GOP chairman and co-chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, said in a Lake County Central Committee email newsletter. “Pat never asked anyone to volunteer for something she was not prepared to do herself. Her kind nature, but determined will to 'get the job' done, will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her well -- especially me.”
Kammerer served as president of the Women’s Republican Club of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff from 2006 through 2008.
She was also West Deerfield Township Republican Organization’s first vice chairman and chairwoman, as well as a poll watcher for Gov. Scott Walker in the heated recall election in Wisconsin. She was in her 80s during the latter role and only left when her safety was threatened.
Kammerer and her late husband, John, had seven children.
