Long Grove FPD responds to 51 fires in 2017

Long Grove Fire Protection District responded to 295 calls in 2017 - 3.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Long Grove included 51 fires - 42 structure fires, four vehicle fires and five other fires.

In all, the department saw $671,145 in fire loss - or about $13,160 per fire.

The department also received 244 false calls, including two malicious calls and 242 other false calls.

The Long Grove Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $5,382,686 in 2016.

The Long Grove Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 12 active employees and six retired or inactive employees, was $261,539 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $5,231 for every fire in 2016.
