VILLAGE OF BANNOCKBURN: Backflow Prevention Devices (RPZ’s) – Reports Due July 1st!

Local gov stock 01

Village of Bannockburn recently issued the following announcement.

In February and March of this year, the Village mailed out letters to homeowners & businesses who may have backflow prevention devices (sometimes called RPZ’s) installed at their property. The letters notified/reminded both residents/businesses that the backflow prevention devices must be inspected annually by a private contractor certified to do these types of inspections (this is a State of Illinois Law). (the most common RPZ’s are provided for lawn irrigation systems for residential & commercial properties) The letters also discussed a deadline of April 30, 2018 to submit the inspection report to the Village. PLEASE NOTE, the Village Board approved a revised deadline to turn in your inspection reports to the Village to the date of July 1, 2018. If you already have a reoccurring inspection date that occurs after July 1st, 2018, you do not need to send in the inspection report to the Village until after you actually get your yearly inspection by a CCCDI inspector.

As a reminder, once you have had an inspection completed, please submit certification of the inspection to the Village by fax at (847)945-8496 or via email to Rmentkowski@villageofbannockburn.org. [The inspection report is usually sent directly from the Cross Connection Control Device Inspector (CCCDI) or plumbing company.]

A list of some of the Cross Connection Control Device Inspector’s (CCCDI) can be found on the Village website at: bannockburn.org/government/water/ccp/ and can also be found at the following website: www.siue.edu/ertc/cross_connection_control.shtml (not a Village website – scroll down to the “Approved Plumbers List”)

If you received this letter and have any questions regarding this inspection or feel this notice does not apply to your property, please contact Ryan Mentkowski at (847)945-6080 or at Rmentkowski@villageofbannockburn.org. Please note, that if you do not turn in your inspection report each year, as required, the Village may assess daily fines against you for each device that has not been tested (and passed the test).
