Ken Idstein has had enough of what he sees as House Speaker Mike Madigan’s double-dealing ways.

“We pay some of the highest property taxes in the entire nation,” Idstein posted on Facebook. “Political bosses like Mike Madigan have used their influence as policymakers and property tax appeal lawyers to get rich, while the rest of us are left to suffer.”

But Idstein, who is running against incumbent Rep. Sam Yingling (D-Grayslake) in the 62nd District, vows no more. He recently signed an Illinois Policy Institute petition that would ban lawmakers from acting as property tax appeal lawyers.

“We should judge our elected officials based on their actions, not on their words,” Idstein said. “My opponent has voted for Madigan for Speaker every chance he has had, and he has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from Madigan. Over the next 90 days, watch what we do, not what we say.”

The 62nd District includes parts of Avon, Fremont, Grant, Lake Villa, Warren and Wauconda.
