Gurnee Park District issued the following announcement on Oct. 11.

Sue McDougle, Preschool Manager - If your child is ready to make friends, learn and have fun. This means, they're ready for what's next! Whether heading to school, day care, sports or activities, a new place and new people can contain some anxious moments for both children and parents.

How to adjust to a new place or routine:

  • Know that your child's ability to be independent can enhance their current relationships
  • You will enjoy hearing about their new accomplishments
  • Avoid showing strong emotion in front of your child. Some children become upset when they see this
  • New activities, school or daycare is an opportunity for you to meet others as well
