GURNEE PARK DISTRICT: ReNEW Year. ReNEW You!

Webp park 03

Gurnee Park District issued the following announcement on Dec. 6.

Message from Executive Director, Susie Kuruvilla, CPA, CPRP.

With 2019 right around the corner, Gurnee Park District is getting ready to embrace the New Year with renewed energy and enthusiasm. We offer hundreds of opportunities for you and your family to stay active and have fun. Since this is a time for resolutions and they often revolve around health and fitness, we have the best option for you; FitNation. We hope that you take advantage of this community asset. Come by to try it out for a day or choose to be a member. Personally, I appreciate having an expansive area filled with a great variety of fitness equipment as well as plenty of group exercise classes to enjoy. After a summer spent outside at the parks, both fitness locations offer comfortable indoor options to stay well this winter!

We've expanded pickleball hours at Hunt Club Park Community Center gymnasium in response to the great success and growing use of O'plaine's outdoor pickleball courts. This is a great opportunity to get some exercise while having fun with friends. If you haven't played this game, I encourage you to give it a try. I started playing about three years ago and absolutely love it.

For those of you want to ease into exercise, there is nothing better than a 30 minute walk! The GO Gurnee Walking Club walks every Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Our parks provide 16 different paths throughout Gurnee in addition to the 203 miles of Lake County Forest Preserve trails.

Whether achieving your fitness goals, trying a new hobby or spending more time as a family, Gurnee Park District is here to support you! We're ready for winter special events, as well as swim school, youth basketball, dance and our adult programs to get started. Looking forward to seeing you around FitNation, Hunt Club Community Center or out at the parks enjoying the snow, sled hills or ice rinks. As always, please feel free to contact me with your ideas and suggestions. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2019!
