PARK DISTRICT OF HIGHLAND PARK: Gymnastics Team Finishes Second in Elmhurst Competition

Park District of Highland Park issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.

The Park District of Highland Park (PDHP) Level 3 Gymnastics Team took second place in the Small Team Division at the Elmhurst Gymnastics Center Competition held at York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois on Sunday, January 20, 2019. This was the team’s first competition of their inaugural season. The team was formed in 2018.

Members of the PDHP Level 3 Team include: Ali Danziger, Lindsey Drake, Lucky Fincher, Rowan Kach, and Hannah Spencer. Kach, Danzinger and Drake all placed fifth in “All Around” in their respective age groups. Fincher took fourth place, and Spencer took first place in the 13+ age group.

The PDHP Level 3 Team is coached by Bruce Keeshin. He is a former Head Coach for men and women’s gymnastics team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.).

“These girls have been working hard, learning routines and taking on the challenge of being the founding members of our competitive team,” said Keeshin. “I am truly impressed with the improvement I have seen, and excited to build on our great start to the season.”

The PDHP Gymnastics Team competes in AAU Gymnastics League. Centennial is a premier regional center for gymnastics with a highly qualified staff and progressive programming. The arena is a proud member of Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Gymnastics.
