PARK DISTRICT OF HIGHLAND PARK: PDHP Figure Skater Wins USFSA National Championship

Park District of Highland Park issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.

Ilya Mondrowski, a Centennial Ice Arena ice skater has won the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) National Championship in the Juvenile Ice Dance Division. The USFSA Championships took place January 19 – 20, 2019 in Detroit, Michigan. Mondrowski, 14, of Highland Park and his ice dance partner Kiana Pan, 12, of Bolingbrook won the USFSA Championship Juvenile Ice Dance Division with a total score of 80.03. The dance team placed third in the Juvenile Ice Dance Division at the Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships in November.

“We are incredibly proud of Ilya for his exciting win,” said Carol Sassorossi, Recreation Supervisor at Centennial Ice Arena. “It is an amazing feat to win the Nationals. Special thanks go out to their coaches and supportive families.”

Centennial Ice Arena is a premier regional center for ice skating with a highly qualified staff and progressive programming. The arena is a proud member of US Figure Skating and Learn to Skate USA.
