Report: Winthrop Harbor spent $10,131 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Winthrop Harbor School District 1 is up 20 percent from five years ago, according to a Lake County Gazette analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Lake County school district spent $8,445 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $10,131 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 573 to 546.

Winthrop Harbor's spending in 2017-18 was 24 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
