Gurnee Park District issued the following announcement on April 1.

If you're looking to keep your kiddos clean, or at least try to, here are a few of our favorite locations that provide mud-free playgrounds, perfect for mud-free play.

Village Park

Off of continental drive, this mud-free, turf playground can be found behind Continental Village apartments. A towering rocket ship takes playground goers to outer space, where they're able to blast off down a variety of slides. For the smaller adventurers, Village Park includes swings, and perfectly sized rock wall. Soft turf and shady trees make this park a prime picnic location.

Ravinia Park

Ravinia Park is a great neighborhood location on the west side of Gurnee. Pour in place rubber/turf combination provides mud-free fun for all ages. As part of Gurnee Park District's master plan playground equipment was replaced in fall of 2016. Features include a variety of slides, innovative jungle gym as well as artificial turf and ADA surfacing, making Ravinia a perfect addition to our mud-free list. More mud-free fun can be had this park with a board walk bridge, providing access to walking paths year round.

University Park

University makes other neighborhood parks green with envy! This NEW emerald gem can be found at University and Estes, tucked within the neighborhood. University Park is brand new, opening spring/summer of 2019. With a variety of bridges and slides, every age is able to have access to their own equipment. Both tot lot, playground, and swings have turf surfaces, keeping play clean and most importantly, mud-free.
