City of Waukegan issued the following announcement on July 16.
Cooling centers in Waukegan include the following locations:
- Waukegan Public Library, 128 N. County, 847-623-2041. Monday -Thursday from 10am – 8pm, Friday from 10am – 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1pm – 5pm.
- Waukegan Township Park Place, 414 S. Lewis, 847-244-9242. Monday from 9am - 7pm. Tuesday and Wednesday from 9am – 4:30pm, Thursday from 9am – 8pm, Friday 9am – 4:30pm, and Saturday from 9am – 3pm. This facility is designed for those ages 55 and older.
- Waukegan Park District Belvidere Recreational Center, 412 S. Lewis, 847-360-4700. Open Monday – Friday from 9am – 8pm and Saturday from 9am – 2pm.
- Waukegan Park District Jack Benny Center, 39 Jack Benny Drive, 847-360-4740. Monday – Thursday from 10am – 9pm. Friday from 10am - 5pm. Saturday from 9am – 4pm.
- Waukegan Park District Field House and Aquatic Center, 800 Baldwin Avenue, Monday - Friday from 5am - 10pm, Saturday and Sunday from 7am - 7pm,
- Illinois Department of Human Services, 2000 N. Lewis Ave, 847-336-5212. Open Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5pm.
