Gurnee Park District issued the following announcement on July 29.
Where did the time go? Getting ready to go back to school soon? We hope not! There is still so much to do to celebrate the summer in Gurnee. Here are a few ways to stay active and continue to soak up the sun with Gurnee Park District.
Starting August 16 Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center hours will adjust. Closing Monday through Thursdays, but open for the weekends. Weekend hours from August 16 to September 2 include Friday nights from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and Saturdays as well as Sundays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Until then, enjoy the last days of summer at the pool. There are also two more teen events.Including Teen Bash on August 8 and Jr. High Night on August 23.
Should you want to keep swimming, take it indoors at Gurnee Park District Swim School's FREE open house on August 18. Children and adults receive a free swim assessment and are encouraged to stay for open swim after learning about the program.

Free concerts at Viking Park
The last summer concerts will be held in Viking Park on August 1 with 7th Heaven and September 5 with Bella Cain. Be sure to bring blankets or chairs. Concessions will are available, but concert goers are more than welcome to bring their own treats. Should a k9 companion like to come along, Gurnee Park District asks that they are well behaved and remain on a leash at all times. Special thanks to our Sounds of Summer concert sponsors! What is summer without a festival! Gurnee Days comes back for another exciting year from August 9 to August 11. Enjoy family activities and entertainment for all ages. From the carnival to the car show to the always anticipated rib eating contest, there is something fun for the entire family. View complete schedule of events here.
FitNation continues to provide outdoor boot camp and yoga until the end of summer. Boot camp is held every Thursday in August, with Yoga in the Park ending on August 9. View complete August fitness schedule here.
Although the end of summer is near, there are so many ways to get out and play in Gurnee. As always visit over 20 local parks, shoot hoops outdoors or play ball. You can view what every park has to offer on the Gurnee Park District directory.
