City of Highland Park City Council met Aug. 15.

Mayor Steve Pannell called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Absent: Chief of Police Holderbaum, Alderman Dennis
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC:
A. Consideration and Possible Approval to renew the Property and Casualty Insurance coverages with the Travelers Insurance Company for the period of Aug. 26th, 2019 to Aug 26th, 2020 for an annual premium of $84,829.00
It was motioned by Alderman Eaker and seconded by Alderman Bibian to Approve the Travelers Insurance Proposal.

B. Tony Pena – Provided the City Council with a presentation in regards to moving forward with opening an establishment that would allow for the legal sale of marijuana in accordance with the State of Illinois newly passed laws.
No decision from council at the moment, will continue to work with Mr. Pena in coming months.

C. PARKS AND RECREATION – LIAISON – Alderwoman Ortega – Extended a “Thank you” to all those who assisted with the Back to School event. Many kids in the community were served and went home with snacks and school supplies.

Mayor Pannell has scheduled tent pick up for Block Party for 5PM on Friday before the event. All council members to wear City shirts.
