State Sen. Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) questioned several executive inspector generals regarding state employees that are considered a threat to others during last week's Senate House Joint Commission on Ethics and Lobbying Reform hearing.
"Have you ever had a situation you believed was a threat to others?" McConchie asked at the hearing. "How did you handle that? Is law enforcement the only method?"
Nathan Maddox, the executive inspector general for the Illinois Secretary of State, said that action is taken right away without the need for approval.
"That person will be escorted out of the office and the incident is investigated," Maddox said. "We act immediately."
Joanna Gunderson, the executive inspector general for the Illinois Comptroller's Office, and Susan Haling, the executive inspector general for the Governor's Office, both concurred.
