Republican House candidate Chris Bos demanded that Gov. J.B. Pritzker give small business owners in the state more of a chance at survival.

“Of course we’ve got to do everything that we can do to save as many lives as we can from this COVID-19 pandemic, but at the same time the governor has to lay out what the metrics are for what will determine when people can restart their businesses and when workers can go back to work,” Bos, told the Lake County Gazette. “The governor is making a lot of broad statements and enacting executive decisions left and right, but we need transparency about where the data is coming from for those and what the reasons are behind them.”

Bos is running against now running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen, D-Libertyville, in the 51st District.

He said he was as incensed as he was heartbroken to hear Pritzker recently announce an extension of the stay-at-home order through the end of May. Illinois residents have been under orders to stay at home since March with few changes to guidelines.

“I know what that means for all our small business owners in this state,” he said. “Again, he could aid them so much in just laying out what the metrics are for them are in terms of being able to restart their lives. All the uncertainty can seem like a slow death sentence.”

Bos argues the same can be said of the progressive income tax Pritzker continues to push even with everything that’s happening.

“People are already greatly overtaxed in this state and I can’t fathom how anyone can think the way to solve that problem is to tax people even more,” he told the Lake County Gazette. “We need to be looking at where all the waste is and trying to solve the problem.
