City of Highwood issued the following announcement on April 27.
Greetings Residents,
In light of the evidence that the coronavirus is transmitted by people without symptoms, the Center for Disease Control - CDC now recommends that face coverings be used along with social distancing measures to prevent community spread. Our community has done an exceptional job following through on recommendations during this pandemic and I am sure we will continue this with the face covering guidance. Governor Pritzker is issuing an executive order to cover your face when in public when you cannot maintain a six foot social distance.
Highwood community’s exceptional response so far, so while we have not created legislation for Highwood specifically, we encourage you to wear face coverings while out in public even before the executive order takes effect. We will continue to monitor the situation and make changes as necessary. Watch for our new signs at city entrances reminding visitors to wear appropriate coverings and be kind. These are troubling times, but we will get through this together.
For those looking for more information on face coverings, please see the CDC recommendations.
In togetherness,
Mayor Charlie Pecaro
