ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 57: Carroll Highlights Emergency Assistance for Businesses, Non-Profits Affected by COVID-19

57

Illinois State House District 57 issued the following announcement on May 8

With Illinois’ stay-at-home order extended to April 30, state Rep. Jonathan Carroll, D-Northbrook, is sharing information about state resources available to help businesses and non-profit organizations stay afloat financially during their temporary closures.

“Our small businesses and locally owned restuarants are the foundation of our community,” Carroll said. “As many businesses have been asked to close their doors or limit services due to the ongoing public health crisis, the state is working on different options to provide economic assistance to those that need it most during this difficult time.”

Small businesses in Illinois can apply for up to $90 million in grants and loans through various state emergency assistance programs, depending on their size, industry and geographic location. More information and application details are available at https://www2.illinois.gov/dceo/SmallBizAssistance/Pages/EmergencySBAIntiatives.aspx.

The state treasurer’s office is also partnering with approved financial institutions to provide up to $250 million in low-interest loans to small businesses and non-profits that have been impacted. “These are uncertain and challenging times for business owners and entrepreneurs, and we are commited to helping them withstand the growing economic impact of this crisis,” said Carroll. “In the meantime, I encourage residents to support our local businesses by ordering carry-out, purchasing gift cards if you can and sharing these resources with anyone you know who may benefit from them.”
